Post Codes on GOS claims
The Department has advised that whilst clearly desirable, a postcode is not
a specific requirement under the regulations and claims should not routinely
be returned to contractors for completion and resubmission on that basis. If
the patient does not have or does not know their postcode, they can enter the
first few characters of the postcode or, in extremis, mark it N/A.

Reorganisation of primary care trusts
The number of PCTs in England will be reduced from 303 to 152. This is anticipated
to happen in October 2006. The current plan is that the 5 PCTs in Surrey will
form 1 PCT.
The Department of Health say the reduction will result in:
Arrangements for the new Surrey PCT from 1 October 2006
The five PCTs in Surrey have merged to become Surrey PCT. The past five PCTs
will be known as localities and remain at the same sites
The Surrey PCT Transition Steering Group has agreed with the Surrey Chief Executives
that the interim HQ for the new PCT will be at Bournewood House in Chertsey

Surrey PCTs to merge
Welcome to the first briefing from the Surrey Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) transition
team. Following the consultation the Strategic Health Authority (SHA) put forward
a proposal for one PCT in Surrey following the announcement of the decision
from the Secretary of State this has been accepted. Newsletters will be published
at intervals to keep you up to date on the preparation for the changes.
