The Optical Benevolent Fund is able to offer short or longer-term financial support to anyone who is or has been a member of the optical profession in the United Kingdom or their dependents, who find themselves confronted by difficult circumstances, for whatever reason.

The Central (LOC) Fund collects money by voluntary levy and donations from optometrists and LOCs. It distributes this in the form of grants to organisations and individual applicants for issues and projects that will be of benefit to the whole profession.
